talents from items

(1/1)

DoubleA:
Wanting to make sure I'm right on a few things regarding talents from items.

edit: seems Sedy answered some of these already on the English boards (http://s176520660.online.de/dungeonslayersUS/forum/index.php?topic=567.msg4080#msg4080).  Can anyone confirm the others?

* If an item has a talent, and the character does NOT have the talent, it will give the character the talent at that rank; for example, if the character doesn't have brutal blow and finds an item with Brutal Blow 1 - the character now has Brutal Blow 1.
* If an item has a talent, and the character DOES have the talent, it will add to that character's existing talent; for example, a character already has Brutal Blow 1 and finds an item with Brutal Blow 1 - the character now has Brutal Blow 2.
* If an item has a talent, and the character has MAXED the talent, the item will add to the character's existing talent taking it beyond the maximum listed in the book; for example, a character (fighter) has Brutal Blow 3 and finds an item with Brutal Blow 1 - the character now has Brutal Blow 4.
* The maximum ranks of a single talent provided by all magical items cannot exceed 5; for example, a fighter finds a ring with Brutal Blow 3 and a sword with Brutal Blow 3 - the character would only gain Brutal Blow 5.
* The character can use the talent provided by the item even if he is not able to gain the talent though normal means (character creation and progression); for example, a fighter finds a ring that grants Bear Form 1 - the fighter is now able to transform into a bear per the talent's rules despite not being a druid.
* The rank of the talent is given to the character regardless of level; for example, a level 3 fighter finds a ring that gives Dual Wield 5 - the fighter is now able to dual wield 2 weapons without penalty despite not being high enough level to have gained Dual Wield 5 through normal means.
Question: when creating magical items, what is the maximum number of talents that can be added to a given item?  The book doesn't seem to have a limit aside from a) cost and b) having someone with the talent and rank present during the making of the item.

avakar:
4. No, there is no maximum overall rank for talents provided by magic items.
5. That's true.
6. That's true.
