For this months Fanaddition2Loot I try something new, so let's get this party started.
When Dungeonslayers came out about 10 years ago, it soon found a very active community because of its openess, the free access and the simplicity of the whole system. While a lot of pen and paper RPG sytems are bound to their respective (language) community, Dungeonslayers was and is in the courious position that due to its license everybody is and was free to translate the system and redistribute it. And so it was translated, mostly by volunteers as a labour of heart, to the effect that at this moment the ruleset exists (as far as I know) in English, French, Spanish and Italian. And the developement did not stop there, some of the non-german Dungeonslayer enthusiasts created fan additions and adaptions for the game in their own languages or translated existing fan additions from Geramn to their language (a lot of Dungeon2Go are available in French). One prominent example would be Caveslayers, a (originally) Italian-Only adaption, that found its way back to the german community thanks to Camo last year. And to be clear: These are not only some exceptions - even avakars Slayers Pit (and the Download tool) includes multi-language support.
Today I want to use this stage to highlight the fact that Dungeonslayers is not "german only" and has a big "Non-German-fanbase". That'S why I present a non-german fan addition - in this case an English one (I can not speak or read French and Italian, and my Spanish is dreadful). Long story short, I this months Fanaddition2Loot deserves to be
Planefolk is a (comparably) short document that includes 4 playable races with a unique origin on the elemental planes or spheres that sourrond the typical fantasy realm. Even if the campaign itself does not include these realms a player could easily choose one of the four races (water, fire, earth and wind) an join a party.
I chose specifically this fan adaption because its small but shows what is possible in only a few pages. The imagionation and fantasy are triggered instantly (not only mine). The influence of this addition might be strongly underestimated, because - according to Bruder Grimm himself - "Planefolk" was the spark that triggered the developemnt of "Bruder Grimms Planeslayers" (
Planeslayers,
Luft,
Wasser,
Erde,
Feuer) a huge addition to Dungeonslayers that I also warmly recommentd to everybody that might have a feeling that the "normal" world (aka Caera) is too small for the heroes.
Thats it folks, this months Fanwerk2Loot is finished, if you want to present one of your favourite adaptions, additions or re-skins of Dungeonslayers, then be brave and volunteer.
