St?tzen -
Should read "Sch?tzen" if you mean "protect".
Then again, "Schutz" would mean "protection".
The meaning of this sentence is almost impossible to decipher.
Especially the last part of it.
If you meant that all Goblins get a -1 to all checks/rolls against the wielder as long as they are able to see him,
you would probably like to express it in this way:
"Ber?chtigt ?
Hope this helps.
Nice idea, though.

Thanks
For the last power, I wanted goblins (and I should clarify this includes orcs and trolls by Tolkein's prose) to suffer -1 to all rolls but also feel compelled to stay and fight. It makes them both fearful and angry.
-
I don?t think, that that effect could be explained in rule-terms :)
What do you refer, with the "embedded spell-effect"? Could remember something like that in the books.
btw: Sting didn?t glow when trolls are near, as far as I remember trolls are not akin with orcs in middle-earth. Trolls are created by Melkor and orcs were a kind of elves.

I pulled the defensive shield portion from notes from the film production... It is inscribed with runes that say: "Turgon aran Gondolin tortha, Gar a matha I vegil Glamdring Gud Daedheloth, Dam an Glamhoth."
Which means, "Turgon king of Gondolin wields, has and holds the sword Glamdring, Foe of Morgoth's realm, hammer to the Orcs." This was a strengthening spell to protect the user's hand should an actual blow strike it.

Ich hab zwei Olog-hai als T?rsteher!

My thought on the defensive shield power is that the spell has a 100 round cooldown, and the duration is the check result. I could add a reduced cooldown, I was also thinking of adding additional WB vs. Servants of Darkness..
Thanks for the comments/critiques everyone.

Sure, but whoms check-results? The wielders? Most Fighters have miserable spellcasting-stats. Or the the sword a fixed stat?
-
@Schutzschild: The quickest and easiest solution might be to say the effect triggers immediately as the wielder is being attacked (this includes Schlagen, Schie?en and/or Zielzaubern) by any goblin* (If goblin is a collective term in Middle Earth, its single components should be specified in brackets I think).
@Ursus: You are right. Dex wrote that they are "compelled to stay and fight" but then again, he wants them to convey the impression of being "fearful" (see above).
@Ozz: If you allow me to suggest something to you, but I think the word "Angst" is not an appropriate translation of the word "fearful". German "Angst" (English: "angst") is a neurotic health status, where fear can be something common as the fear of walking down the street. Just saying ;) Nevermind.
-
yes, the goblin-kind (goblins and orcs) know this weapon and both fear and loathe it. So they are not at their best (they are scared) thus -1 to their rolls, but they hate the weapon and have heard what it has done and want to destroy it and who wields it. Thus I don't want "fear" or "terror" - I do not want the end result to be - RUN AWAY. It should be "GET HIM!"
Perhaps I should just leave that part out and say -1 to all checks and be done with it. To reduce confusion/complexity.

Somebody create Narsil!
From LOTR WIKI:
The sword was forged during the First Age by the Dwarven smith Telchar, the most renowned weaponsmith of Nogrod. It had considerable magic powers, as it was able to slice the flesh of the Dark Lord Sauron, its powers were enough to tear any kind of armor or flesh. The sword was thus a "cousin" to the knife Angrist, which Beren used to cut a Silmaril from the crown of Morgoth.
-
-
@Narsil
Something like:Victims roll :kw2: with -5 and without any armor and perhaps some + :kw5: against creatures of darkness - like the effect of Servant of Darkness but of course against creatures of darkness, not light.
-
Nice!
And is a dagger until it is reforged into a longsword!
-
And is a dagger until it is reforged into a longsword!
Of course ;D ...without magic
-
And reforged it?s named And?ril.
And it has a magic scabbard. (grants something like quick-draw?)
-
And once per battle you get an additional + :kw5: while shouting "Elendil!"
